Congo will only let in 11,000 fans for tomorrow’s crunch AFCON qualifier against Nigeria after they received a warning from CAF over crowd incident in a recent game.

There was an emergency meeting at the weekend involving the country’s minister of sports, the Congolese Football Association and the authorities of Pointe Noire to address this issue.

After the meeting, it was agreed that only 11,000 tickets will be sold for this high-profile Group ‘A’ match to be played at the Stade Municipal in Pointe Noire, which has a capacity for over 13,000 spectators.

“They want to make sure everything goes fine after they received a warning from CAF following some incidents when they hosted Sudan and as a result of this only 11,000 tickets have been made available for the local fans,” an official said.

In September, Congo beat Sudan 2-0 in Pointe Noire.

The Congolese are now second in Group A with seven points from four matches, while the Super Eagles are third on four points.

The Red Devils shocked the African champions 3-2 when both teams first clashed in September in Calabar.
